Cabo Cruise 2011

Back in September when we decided to do this cruise, I wasn’t sure I’d really like it. But, I thought I’d probably really be ready for a warm vacation by the time February rolled around.
So glad I decided to do it.
I went with Carol-Lyn (a friend from work), Brianna (an old mission companion) and Katie ( a friend of Brianna’s we all got to really like!)
Here we are ready to take off, just getting into our room. We fit four people just fine into our little stateroom. We decided to spring for the balcony and I’m really glad we did. I woke up every morning early and took advantage by going out and reading in the peace and quiet.
A girl always likes a reason to dress up. The “formal night” in the dining room meant we got to curl and primp and wear pretty dresses.
I’m not exactly sure what animal this was supposed to be. But I did enjoy seeing the creativity every night.
Here’s the Carnival Spirit. A cruise is a true testament to finding “joy in the journey”. We loved having the fun, food and friends all close by for a week. I loved this cruise. I definitely wouldn’t want to go on a cruise that had destinations that I really wanted to see, you simply don’t have enough time.
The famous Arch on the Baja peninsula. It’s just as pretty as it looks in the picture.
We paid a man to take us to Lover’s Beach and got a tour of the end of the peninsula in the process. His “glass bottom” of his boat wasn’t very clear, but he did have all the English jokes memorized. So well in fact, that we thought he spoke English. Juan only spoke tour operator English. Which made him even more memorable.
We got to go rappelling and zip lining for one day of our time in Cabo. I was worried that the heights would be too much. (I have issues sometimes, my mind races and I imagine all the bad things that could be happening.) However, all 8 of these zip lines were really fun and just enough thrill to make me get a little shaky in the middle of the zip line but not so much as to make me want to get down.
It was tiring though. I didn’t even make it out of the parking lot before I fell asleep on Brianna’s shoulder.
A main highlight of the cruise was eating. I didn’t realize that you could order as many appetizers, entrees and desserts as you wanted. EVERY MEAL. No wonder people tend to gain weight. Not to mention 24 hr soft-serve and pizza.

Here we are sad to be back in the real world. Anyone want to go on a cruise? I’m ready for another one.

Yay! Pictures! Looks SO much fun. I agree, though, about not going places you REALLY want to see, because you don't have time! I love your gray dress you wore, so pretty. I'm so glad you had a fun time!

I did this same cruise last year and LOVED IT! I even went zip-lining! Your pictures make me want to go again! I gained at least 5 pounds from all the soft-served ice cream! It was worth it though. Glad you had fun!

I went on a cruise in october, On royal carribean, and one of our ports was in Cabo! Did you make it over to the other side of Lover's beach? We called it divorce beach becuase it is much more violent than Lovers, Isn't it crazy how they load and unload you at Lovers beach? Anyway, yea for cruises!!!!!

Yay! I love comments. @Melissa- i did get to go to Divorce Beach. Took some pictures and now looking at them, I realize why I never tried to do modeling. I'm the queen of awkward poses.

Looks like you had so much fun! Makes me want to escape for just a little while 🙂

  8. […] First trip of the year to Mexico on a cruise with some amazing friends in February. I got to swim in the ocean, go ziplining through the canyons, eat as much as I could and spend quality time reading while watching the sun come up over the horizon. […]
